The TP4056 18650 lithium battery charger module is a compact charging and battery protection solution designed for safely charging single-cell 3.7V / 3.6V Li-ion and LiPo batteries. The board integrates a constant-current / constant-voltage charging controller together with a built-in protection circuit. This means the module not only charges the battery but also actively protects it from over-charging, over-discharging, and excessive current draw.
The module operates from a standard 5V input such as a phone charger, USB adapter, or power bank. Because Micro USB input is widely available in Bangladesh, the module is very convenient for students, hobbyists, and engineers working on electronics projects. At Bigyan Project and many DIY electronics communities in BD, this board is commonly used in robotics, portable electronics, Arduino projects, ESP32 devices, and rechargeable backup power systems.
The TP4056 charging IC controls the charging process using CC/CV charging. First, the battery charges with a constant current (up to 1A). When the battery reaches 4.2V, the charger automatically switches to constant voltage mode and gradually reduces current until the battery is safely full. Meanwhile, the onboard protection IC disconnects the battery if voltage drops too low or if a short circuit occurs. This significantly increases battery lifespan and safety, which is especially important when working with 18650 cells in Bangladesh's hot climate.
